ELDERS’ SAYS NO TO MARKETING FEE

MEDIA RELEASE - January 11, 2010

Due to a number of requests for information from growers, Elders Primary Wool has decided to issue a statement in response to the announcement by Wool Partners International of the introduction of a 3% ‘Wool Market Development Fee’ effective 14th January. 

Elders Primary Wool assures growers it has no intention of introducing a similar market development fee.

ELDERS’ RESPONDS TO CALLS TO THINK GLOBALLY

MEDIA RELEASE - 02 November 2009

Recent calls by the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) for greater cooperation among global wool have been answered with Elders Primary Wool announcing today that they have signed an agreement with the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB), which will see a partnership for wool promotion and the sharing of technical information between the two organisations.

IWTO’s Olivier Segard addressed recent meetings in Napier and Christchurch, stressing the need for a consistent message from all the world’s major wool producers about the benefits that wool offers to consumers. Olivier Segard chairs the IWTO’s Interior Textiles Committee and is a fourth generation French wool buyer.

ELDERS’ UPS ANTE TO RETURN PROFITABILITY TO WOOL GROWERS

Elders New Zealand has appointed Craig Wilson to the new position of National Manager Exports. The new role takes on responsibility for all of Elders New Zealand’s exports, with a particular focus on wool.

Craig Wilson has a significant and successful background in adding value to agricultural exports. He will lead the Elders team appointed to return profitability to wool growers through initiatives such as the exclusive agreement with carpet retail giant CCA Global Partners.

“This appointment underpins Elders absolute commitment to increasing returns to our strong-wool growers,” said Stuart Chapman, Elders’ Managing Director.

ELDERS CLOSE TO CONTRACTS

Elders New Zealand will be finalising details of its Just Shorn wool contracts with suppliers the next two weeks, says managing director Stuart Chapman.

This is more than a month behind the original schedule, but commercial trials of wool samples had taken longer than expected.

The trials, conducted at Godfrey Hirst carpet plants in Australia and New Zealand, had gone extremely well, Chapman said, meeting robust standards required by the United States building code.
